Hotel Peterchens Mondfahrt: Meeting place of the aviation pioneers
The former owner, Mr. Peters, opened the hotel on 28.9.1956. Since then, all well-known aviation pioneers have visited “Peterchens”, including Hanna Reitsch, Elli Beinhorn, Wolf Hirth, Heini Dittmar and his brothers Edgar and Walter, as well as Peter Riedel.
Probably the most prominent house guest so far was Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon. On 9.8.1970 Armstrong visited the Wasserkuppe and stayed overnight in the room “Moon ride”.
The hotel offers a total of 10 double rooms, including a suite, a family room and a room for allergy sufferers.
Summit of pleasures
In the guest rooms and on the sun terraces we serve coffee and cake specialities in addition to classic dishes. You should not miss the gourmet cuisine, which has won several awards.
Every morning the restaurant offers a large breakfast buffet for its hotel guests. Guests of the surrounding accommodations are also very welcome.
For the predominantly regional use of goods, the kitchen has been awarded the highest distinction of the Rhön umbrella brand.
“Summit meeting” on the Wasserkuppe
Today the “Peterchens” is known and loved not least because of the regular gourmet events.
Also family celebrations and conferences become an unforgettable “summit meeting” here on the mountain.
