The Hochrhön region is considered one of the most snow-sure ski resorts outside the Alps.
Winter at its finest: Ever since the beginnings of skiing over 100 years ago, the Wasserkuppe has been a well-known and popular winter sports region. Fast-paced descents on skis, snowboards, or sleds in the Wasserkuppe ski and toboggan arena or at Zuckerfeld still attract winter sports enthusiasts to the "Wasserkuppe ski mountain" today.
The natural snow slopes are additionally covered with artificial snow if needed. Thanks to floodlights, skiing on the Wasserkuppe and Zuckerfeld is also possible in the evening.
Hesse's highest cross-country ski trail winds around the airfield. The high plateau is considered one of Germany's best snowkiting spots . And of course, paragliders are also active in winter: paragliding over the snow-covered slopes of the Wasserkuppe is an unforgettable experience!
Those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere can enjoy the winter landscape on a winter hike and then warm up with mulled wine or coffee by the open fireplace.
Wasserkuppe: Holidays right on the slopes
At the Wasserkuppe holiday resort you are right in the middle of the ski area: From the ski and snowboard rental in the Berghotel Deutscher Flieger, from the hotels and from the holiday village you have direct access to the slopes, the cross-country ski trail and the snowkite spot!
