Radom Wasserkuppe

The former radar dome ("radome") on the summit of the Wasserkuppe is a landmark visible from afar.

Formerly a strictly guarded military restricted area, the area can now be visited by anyone.

The walkway around the dome is Hesse's highest viewing platform. It offers a unique 360° panoramic view over the "Land of Open Vistas" in the tri-border region of Hesse, Bavaria, and Thuringia.

During a guided tour of the radome, you will learn about the history of this facility.

The Radom, Hesse's highest-altitude structure, can also be rented as an extraordinary event location or as a registry office for weddings. Fans of electronic music should definitely attend a GALAXOS concert at the Radom.

This is what the radome has to offer

  • Guided Tours
  • Permanent exhibition “The significance of the Wasserkuppe in the Cold War”
  • Concerts and exhibitions
  • Events of all kinds
  • 360° panoramic platform
  • Wedding celebrations in Hesse's highest registry office
