Hotel Peterchens Mondfahrt on the Wasserkuppe: Meeting point of aviation pioneers

The previous owner, Mr. Peters, opened the hotel on September 28, 1956. Since then, all the well-known aviation pioneers have visited "Peterchens", including, for example, Hanna Reitsch, Elli Beinhorn, Wolf Hirth, Heini Dittmar and his brothers Edgar and Walter, as well as Peter Riedel.

Perhaps the most prominent guest to date was Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon. On August 9, 1970, Armstrong visited the Wasserkuppe and stayed overnight in the "Moon Journey" room.

Many other famous personalities have also been guests at "Peterchens."

The hotel on the Wasserkuppe offers a total of 10 double rooms, including a suite, a family room, and an allergy-friendly room. All rooms are individually and stylishly furnished.

The dining rooms of the Peterchens Mondfahrt restaurant with open fireplace and panoramic windows, and the Rhön cuisine – interpreted in a modern way – make the Wasserkuppe a “summit of delights.”
